Microsoft is scheduled to release a new polling integration with Microsoft Teams that enables meeting presenters to create polls natively within teams. According to Ignite 2020, meeting presenters can easily create polls and launch them for attendees to answer from any device before, during and after meetings. This new feature is scheduled to start rolling out to Teams users in November 2020.
Prior to this feature, polling was not integrated into meetings. Meeting presenters had the option of using Microsoft Forms to create polls in Teams. Attendees would be required to leave the meeting to complete the poll outside of Teams which was less than ideal for attendees and the meeting organizer.
The new polling experience builds on top of the Microsoft Forms functionality. With this integration, Teams meeting presenters can manage all aspects of their polls directly via a tab in Teams.
Once a meeting presenter launches a poll, it will pop-up on the respondents meeting screen as well in the meeting chat. In meeting polling enables attendees to see results in real-time. This feature will be very helpful for organizations and organizers to take votes during a meeting or gauge the pulse of the audience.
After the meeting, the poll results can be exported to Microsoft Excel for further analysis. Look out for this new feature to roll out in Teams over the next several weeks.
