Napoleon B. Harris is an impressive individual with a diverse background. He is a former NFL Linebacker, State Senator, and Thornton Township Committeeman. Born on February 25, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, Harris has achieved remarkable success in both his athletic and political careers.
Harris began his football journey at Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois, where he excelled as a standout linebacker. His exceptional skills on the field earned him a scholarship to Northwestern University, where he continued to shine. During his time at Northwestern, Harris was a key player for the Wildcats, earning numerous accolades and becoming a team captain.
In 2002, Harris entered the NFL Draft and was selected in the first round by the Oakland Raiders. He played as a linebacker for the Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs during his professional football career. Harris’s dedication, hard work, and leadership qualities made him a respected figure in the NFL.
After retiring from football, Harris turned his attention to public service. He successfully ran for the position of State Senator in Illinois’ 15th district in 2012. As a State Senator, Harris focused on issues such as education, economic development, and criminal justice reform. His commitment to improving the lives of his constituents earned him a reputation as a dedicated and effective legislator.
In addition to his role as a State Senator, Harris also serves as the Thornton Township Committeeman.
