A Step Beyond (ASB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that improves Chicago communities of color through its assets: people, businesses, and property. ASB is a launchpad to remarkable, healthy, life change for individuals, families and ultimately, their community. ASB has a mission to build healthy communities by taking progressive Steps that lead to the reduction or elimination of the root cause of a wide range of disparities impacting individuals, families and communities of color. ASB’s definition of health includes physical, emotional/psychological, and financial health from which generations and communities suffer. To positively impact a community’s health, its residents need the resources to achieve their highest health potential. Steps must be taken to reduce and/or eliminate the root cause of a wide range of health disparities affecting the individuals and families within. A Step Beyond’s definition of health includes physical, emotional/psychological, and financial health. A Step Beyond started their journey to address these issues in 2012, with a Remarkable Women Conference. The Remarkable Conference is now an annual event!
