More About The Panelists

Maya-Camille Broussard, Chef. Maya-Camille is a chef, author and owner of the beloved pie shop, Justice of the Pies. Maya-Camille founded Justice of the Pies in 2014, operating out of ghost kitchens before opening a storefront last summer. The bakery’s name is a nod to her late father, Stephen J. Broussard, a criminal defense attorney with a passion for baking (and eating) pie. Keeping in line with her father’s dual passion for social justice, the bakery hosts events and workshops dedicated to creating positive change in the local community. Maya-Camille’s prowess as a chef has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation, who named her a finalist for Outstanding Baker in 2022. Today, she remains a featured pastry chef of the Netflix series, Bake Squad.

Alina Karin Cervantes, Wellness Entrepreneur + Celebrity Esthetician: Culminating more than a decade of experience in corporate wellness hospitality and esthetics, Alina founded embrh, a self-care studio and community market in Wicker Park. The space serves as a shared portal for Chicago artists, local makers, and wellness curators. Her work focuses on empowering the community with services, classes, and events that nurture compassion, resilience, and beauty. Fun fact: As a Virgo sun, Alina thrives in orchestrating behind the scenes, as an Aquarius moon her free spirit loves to recharge by traveling, and as a Sagittarius rising she is driven to explore her creative curiosity.

Liz Flores, Painter and Muralist: Since making the leap from corporate America into the art world nine years ago, Liz has shared her story on the TEDx stage, CreativeMornings Chicago, and collaborated with major brands like Lululemon and Target. Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the U.S. and is driven by her interests in community, womanhood, and Latinidad.

Keewah Nurallah, Founder of Kido: Keewah is a performing artist, community organizer, and the founder of Kido, an award-winning children’s lifestyle brand with a brick and mortar located in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago. As a small shop owner, Keewa focuses on inclusivity and representation in her curated collection of apparel, books, and sustainable toys. Named Black Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021 by Official Black Wall Street, Clover, and Snapchat, she has been featured in The New York Times, CBS Mornings, The Tamron Hall Show, CNN, Forbes, and other media outlets. A Black Wall Street descendant and 4th generation entrepreneur, Keewa is dedicated to Black entrepreneurship and community building in Chicago. She is a devoted wife and mother, and she enjoys creating memories with her husband, Doug, and their two little ones.
