John Boddie is a highly accomplished Sports Business Consultant with a distinguished career in the sports industry and leading nonprofit organizations. He is currently the Interim Chief Programs Officer for Noah’s Arc Foundation, where he leads efforts to enhance external strategies, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and drive organizational impact. He collaborates with NAF leadership to refine event processes, boost marketing and communications, and build strategic partnerships. John’s role also focuses on expanding the Foundation’s donor base and fostering relationships with key policymakers and industry leaders.
In addition to his role at Noah’s Arc Foundation, John serves as the Chief Impact Officer at GSix Consulting, where he oversees strategic partnerships, business development, and interagency collaborations, ensuring cost-effective operations within regulatory compliance. His expertise is pivotal in harnessing industry insights to explore and secure future partnerships.
John’s sports career began with nine seasons at the Chicago Bulls, where he served as the linchpin for major corporate partnerships. He meticulously managed contractual obligations and oversaw day-to-day operations, budgets, hospitality, tickets, and special events for the Partnership Marketing Department. He also held Associate and part-time roles in the Community Relations Department.
During his year-plus tenure at DraftKings, John excelled in Business Development. He was crucial in managing, curating, and maintaining relationships with professional sports leagues and teams, implementing the company’s comprehensive sports strategy, leading strategic partnership development, conducting intricate contract negotiations, managing budgets, and employing performance metrics to drive customer acquisition and engagement across the DraftKings product portfolio.
In 2018, John led the foundation of ChiGivesBack (CGB), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to uplifting Chicago while fostering community resilience through strategic partnerships and innovative programming, aligning with its mission to empower underserved communities. His leadership has been pivotal in establishing collaborations with local and national organizations to support shared welfare goals and ensure the flawless execution of charitable programs. He has pioneered and expanded impactful initiatives, such as the Chicagoland Toy Drive, Friendsgiving, #Teach2Give, Labor of Love, MLK Jr. Day of Service, Juneteenth Artist Challenge, and the Belle of the Ball Prom Send-Off. Through his efforts, CGB has successfully raised over $750K, driving significant community reinvestment and advocating for social change.
John’s leadership journey traces back to his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration with a minor in Africana Studies. During his academic years, he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, serving as the Black Affairs Coordinator for two years, being elected as a Senator for the College of Business for three years, and actively participating as an Ambassador for the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute. His multifaceted background and unwavering commitment to community service underscore his standing as a dedicated and influential professional in the sports industry.
