Sunset Hike + Meditate #ATLPOPUP

BPWH is partnering with Hike & Mediate for an epic pop up in  ATL! Hike & Mediate is a group that promotes holistic healing and exploration of the outdoors to uplift the physical and mental wellbeing within the black community.  Together with Black People Who Hike they are bringing you a unique  healing experience! Join us for the opportunity to reconnect with yourself and nature through a 3.5 mile hike and guided meditation under a golden sunset.

What to expect: We will ascend 757 ft of elevation up the mountain top. Once we reach the summit we will unwind with a 15 minute guided meditation while overlooking the Appalachian Mountains. As the meditation concludes we will watch the sunset and descend one mile down the mountain as the golden hour concludes.

The Golden Hour://  the time right before the sun rises and immediately after a sunset when sky is illuminated in bright orange and reds.

What to wear/pack:

• water
• breathable athletic clothes (later up, avoiding cotton with the first layer)
• a jacket or sweatshirt
• a backpack
• hiking boots/shoes
• hat
• mask
• Rain jacket or emergency poncho (optional)

Location: Bartow County, Georgia. 45 miles north of Atlanta. Approximately 50 drive outside of Atlanta. The exact location will be provided upon registering.

Time:  Meetup at 5pm. If you are late it is your responsibility to catch up to the group. We will not hold the group up. Please plan accordingly with traffic.

Level of Expertise: This pop up is open to all Levels of hikers however the elevation gain includes steep inclines and some rocks  which will require a certain level of physical activity and proper footing.

Social Distancing: *All participants must register. Walk ups will not be allowed.  Space is very limited to ensure social distancing measures and masks are required. All participants will be required to sign COVID waivers

Weather: This  event is rain or shine.
