About the Event

STL WE’RE BACK FOR OUR FALL POP-UP SERIES🌳!

Fall is the absolute best season to hike in the Midwest! Cooler temperatures, fall foliage and minimal bugs. We are kicking off this season with one of our most favorite trails at Castlewood State Park this Sunday October 13th!

What to expect:

  • 9:00 AM Meet-up in the parking lot (More details after registration).
  • 9:15 AM – Welcome & Intros/Stretches  
  • 9:30 AM –Hike Riverscene Trail at Castlewood State Park
  • 12:00PM– Completion 

Additional Information:

  1. Registration: All attendees are required to register. Everything included with this hike is complimentary, but donations are encouraged.
  2. What to wear/pack: water, breathable athletic clothes (we suggest you can consider layering lighter garments with warmer items to keep you cool but still comfortable), a jacket. bring extra clothes and hiking shoes to keep in your car for your comfort to change afterwards.Be sure to pack sunscreen, a hat and bug spray. Additionally, pack your favorite plant-based snack: fresh fruit, nuts, granola bars etc.
  3. Location: Castlewood State Park, Riverscene Trail in Ballwin, MO.
  4. Directions: If you enter the park from Ries Rd, you will make a left onto Kiefer Creek Rd. About a quarter of a mile up there will be two parking lots across the street from each other. You may park in either lot, but we will meet up in the bigger lot on the left-hand side of the street. The easiest way to get there which I highly recommend is downloading the AllTrails app, click this link https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/missouri/river-scene-trail?sh=ycjjep and use the directions function from there. Otherwise, there is no exact address for the trail head.
  5. Time: Meetup at 9:00 AM sharp.
  6. Weather: High 77°F, Low 55°F Sunny.
  7. Level of Expertise: Beginner/Moderate. This is a moderately strenuous 3.4 mile hike with 278ft elevation gain.

  10. Food: BPWH will provide a light complimentary snacks to all attendees. However, you should pack extra for your comfort and needs. Please make sure to pack healthy snacks for the hike such as granola, beef jerky, dried fruit, as well as extra water. Snacks and water are a critical part of the hiker’s diet. We will be burning calories along the way so snacks are a great way to keep your engine running.  
  11. Additional Information: Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash and owner must be prepared to clean up after pet
