About the Event

Black People Who Hike is teaming up with Dope Dad to bring you #DopeDadsWhoHike! We want to not only highlight amazing fathers doing dope things with their children, but encourage and manifest generational health. Join us for a quick family friendly hike this Saturday October 3rd!

  • Location: Castlewood State Park,  Ballwin, MO
  • Hike is geared for a beginner to intermediate pace
  • 1.7 mile family friendly hike
  • Arrive 10:30am at Castlewood State Park. When you enter the park you will cross a bridge about a half mile in where there are two parking lots across the street from each other. Turn into the left parking lot and park there. If both those lots are full, continue on to the next lot on the left past the playground, park there and walk back to the first lot on the left. We will meet in the grass off the parking lot.
  • Checkin upon arrival at 10:30am.  We will begin with introductions, trail safety and a brief overview of how hiking and spending time in nature can be a positive experience for you and your family. We will begin at 10:45am sharp with the hike immediately following. If you arrive late it will be your responsibility to catch up to the group.
  • Conclude  by 1:00 p.m.
  • Water and snacks will be provided
  • What to wear: breathable athletic attire, a hat
  • Shoes/socks: Hiking boots are not necessary if you and your child or dope dad do not own any. A good pair of athletic sneakers will work as long as they have good traction. Tall socks are recommend to wear during hiking to avoid bug bites and rocks in your shoes.
  • What to bring: a backpack to carry everything in, bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, water,  a jacket  and a positive attitude! It is recommended to bring with you an extra set of clothes, socks and shoes to keep in the car in case you get dirty!
  • Everyone will have to fill out a Covid waiver that will be emailed upon registration. The waiver will include information that will have to be disclosed such as if you or anyone in your household has been sick within the last 14 days. Masks are required to be worm upon arrival and anytime when a six foot distance can’t be kept (at checkin, group photos, snack breaks, etc). If you are spread out from your neighbor you will not have to wear the mask while hiking.  Strict social distancing policies will be followed.
  • If you are registering for your entire family please indicate in registration the number  of guests attending. . *Everyone must register.
