About the Event

Join the Bronzeville Historical Society as we kick off Black History Month with a powerful and inspiring event! We are honored to present a special screening of The Six Triple Eight, a compelling film that tells the extraordinary story of the first all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit during World War II. Popcorn and snacks will be provided.

The Six Triple Eight Battalion made up of African American women, played a crucial role in the war effort, processing thousands of pieces of mail for soldiers overseas and showcasing their strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication in the face of adversity. These remarkable women not only served their country but also shattered racial and gender barriers during a time of immense challenge.

This film offers a rare opportunity to honor their bravery, contributions, and the enduring impact of their work, which has often been overlooked in history. By reflecting on their legacy, we celebrate not only their vital role in the military but also their profound influence on American society as a whole.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of celebration, discussion, and inspiration as we pay tribute to these trailblazing women and continue to learn from their courage and perseverance. Let’s come together to acknowledge and honor their invaluable legacy.

Doors will open at 12:00 pm, with the screening beginning at 12:30 pm.
