BGC May National Meetup: Mentorship and Climbing

Thu, May 20, 2021, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm ET

Online Event

20 May

About the Event

Join us for our second virtual national meetup hosted by Brown Girls Climb leaders @jayakang and @alicitadelfina discussing the many issues found in climbing and mentorship. Finding mentorship within climbing continues to be a struggle for many, particularly within communities of color and women and non-binary folx of color who are looking for mentors who look like them and have similar backgrounds. The climbing community still has a ways to go, but the guests we’ve invited are paving the way in showing how folx can come together and create formal and informal opportunities for mentorship. We will have guests from @riseoutsidecollective and others discussing how and why they decided to build mentor/mentee opportunities.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, finding a mentor, or just want to hear how to build grassroots connections within your community — please join us. Or if you’ve never been to a Brown Girls Climb meet-up and would like to meet and greet other folks in the community, please come! We will have time at the end to meet and greet folks in your area. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with other BGC members in regional breakout rooms. Register today!
