HISTORY AND PURPOSE

The 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. organization was formed in November 1994 and subsequently incorporated in December 1995 by a group of men who shared a common goal of providing youth with educational and mentoring opportunities, with particular emphasis on young African American males. It is a prominent chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., out of 106 chapters in the United States and abroad.

The organization is comprised of a dynamic, diverse, and dedicated all-volunteer group of men who share a common desire to improve the chances of success for young people. Over the years, our members have touched the lives of thousands of young people and the broader community by establishing robust programs addressing four fundamental topics: Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness, and Economic Development. A key objective of our outreach is closing the academic, health and wellness, and wealth accumulation achievement gap between African American youth and their peers.

Our members’ continued dedication to advocate for eliminating the cultural and financial obstacles that have constrained the achievements of African American youth and particularly our young African American males is unwavering
